What’s all the fuss about the Jeanneau Marlin 895 and its claim to be the SUV of the sea?
The new Marlin 895 capitalises on its sister’s success, (the 895 Cruiser) by having it all in one neat package - large walk-around side deck, a proper bow cockpit and boarding ladder, with sun pad and cushioned seats in a nearly enclosed circle.
Looking deeper at this award-winner, the Land Rover of the sea analogy starts to become more obvious. The swiss army knife wheelhouse has a paddleboard rack fitted above with two sunroof options. To the side, are extra-wide sliding doors for easy access to the helm, saloon and the bulwark side gate.
The accommodation onboard has two double cabins with separate doors that are filled with dappled light from the lengthy hull windows. A stand-up heads with a hot water shower sits neatly between the two. Walking up to the saloon, there is a gas cooker galley and three forward-facing seats/bench combinations arcing the helm, whilst still offering a saloon table that converts into another berth. The rear cockpit has one level easy entry from the stern and an all-round fold-away seating set up. Cockpit tables are available in both the stern and bow cockpits.
This offshore package comes with Twin outboard engines with extra-large fuel tanks to make it Cat B. This is a boat that has all of the benefits of modern outboards with their economy, ease of maintaining, performance and build cost saving in construction.

With 3 x 300 litre tanks you can go to Jersey and back in one trip and still have enough for the weekend fishing trip. The Marlin 895 is primarily a cruiser and perfect for extending your cruising potential. With its easy walkaround side decks and bow access, it makes light work of putting fenders and lines out no matter your age or physical requirements.
Alternatively, if it's fishing with friends and a boys weekend you desire, then you can strip the boat down to a more basic arrangement. With an added fishing pack such as rod holders, deck wash and baitwell you can set her up for offshore fishing and wreck drifting as well as cruising with family and friends.
