More than 325 boats will be exhibited in Batavia Haven in Lelystad.
Water sports enthusiasts are looking forward to the Hiswa te Water Boat Show. Last year, the coronavirus pandemic meant that the boat show had to be cancelled, but this year everything seems to indicate that the largest in-water boat show in Northern Europe will be held at the Batavia Haven in Lelystad. From 1st to 5th September, more than 325 boats, ranging from 3 to 30 metres, will be on display there.
“We have heard from many sources that exhibitors and water sports enthusiasts really missed the Hiswa te Water Boat Show. Water sports are thriving. There has been a recent boom in new water sports enthusiasts and it’s plain to see that the newcomers, in particular, are in need of all sorts of information," says Arjen Rahusen, director of the Hiswa te Water Boat Show.
“We think it's important that visitors not only have a fun and inspiring day, but that they also leave well-informed. Every day during the exhibition, a “Vaarplezier” or “Boating Fun” Podcast will be recorded in the waterfront theatre, Theater aan het Water, which will host a wide range of guests. Guests can also look forward to workshops on a variety of subjects. All eyes will, of course, be on the Boat of the Year election, but electric yachting is also a popular event. For specific questions, visitors can go to special information points, where experts from the Motorboat and Zeilen magazines will be on hand to provide answers.
It’s clear that the water sports sector is looking forward to the up-coming boat show from the enormous interest in exhibiting in Lelystad. All well-known brands and shipyards will be present. This ensures that there is a complete line-up from small to large boats, from RIBs to tenders, to motorboats and sailing yachts. Equipped with both hybrid or internal combustion engines and built of PVC, polyester, steel or aluminium.
The past year has given the water sports sector an enormous boost, reflected in many firsts in terms of developments and new concepts. Good examples of this are the 3-D printed sloop and the foiling sail and motor boats that 'fly' over the water.

Largest Yacht
At almost 30 metres in length, the Princess Y85 is the largest yacht in the show. She will be moored in style along the VIP Boulevard, where 28 exclusive and special ships can be admired. Many of these special ships are brilliant examples of great Dutch craftsmanship. “Dutch yacht builders are something we can be proud of, they deserve, and will therefore be given, a prominent place at Hiswa te Water. We have great designers and builders,'' says Rahusen.
Talking about special yachts, the St Barth 75 is definitely worth mentioning- it’s a 23-metre long, fast-sailing aluminium yacht. And as for passion, this truly radiates from the Reborn 38 that debuts in Lelystad.

A Snack and a Drink
If you’re looking for somewhere to quietly process the day’s events, the Stedenmaeght offers the right ambiance for a snack and a drink. This three-master classic sailing ship is one of the most beautiful ships the Netherlands and Hiswa te Water have to offer and it just so happens to be a floating VIP restaurant on the Boulevard. However, there probably won’t be time to stay on board, as there’s so much to see at the fair!
For sailing enthusiasts, well-known brands such as Bavaria, Hanse, Dufour, X Yachts, Beneteau and Jeanneau will be present. As well as the various Scandinavian brands. Of particular note are the daysailers from Tofinu , Domani, Saffier and G2.
For those who plan to make long journeys and want to do so comfortably, there is a choice of all kinds of multihulls: a jetty full of VAAN R4, the Excess, Lagoon, Bali, Fountaine Pajot and Nautitech.
World Trip
For those who prefer to take a monohull on a trip around the world- by sail or motor- Lelystad is the perfect place to take a look at the Contest 55 CS, the Bestevaer 53 or the Orion by dutch brand, Gebroeders van Enkhuizen.
There’s also plenty of choice for motor boat enthusiasts. De Vaart Yachting is exhibiting the Nimbus in all its glory, X-Yachts will present the X-Power and AxoPar the XO boats. In addition, there will also be various RIBs on show.
For sailors who prefer yachting at a calmer pace, there are a wide range of tenders from Cooper, Admiral Tenders, iSloep, Makma, Antaris, Maril, Menken, Interboat, SeaFury, Barkas and, of course, Prins Watersport. Aluminium is also a popular building material for tenders as they are light and virtually maintenance free. However, the wooden classics from American Budsin Boats make time stand still.
The outboard sector is also well represented in this edition with a new line of Maximas from Honda and a monster engine from Mercury of up to 600 HP. If you are looking for an extremely strong boat, the indestructible work boats built by Tideman deserve a visit. Not even a sledgehammer can damage the boats. If you want to test it, you can try it yourself.
“The fact that the fair is being held again after a Covid hiatus is reason enough to look forward to Hiswa te Water. After a year of mostly online and virtual shows, it's nice to see boats where they belong: in the water," says Arjen Rahusen.
