Each year the superyacht season moves in and out like the ocean’s tide. The most popular superyacht destinations around the world are also the most luxurious and exotic.
The Mediterranean and Caribbean are favoured by many, and therefore the pattern of the season follows the changes in weather around the world and where the next popular glamourous location to migrate to is.
The peak season normally last for around four to five months, although obviously heat and luxury can be found all year round. Off-season, many yachts usually remain in yards, and crews for the following season are assembled.
The ‘Med’ season is the Mediterranean’s time in the limelight, beginning around May/June and finishing in September/October. The two most renowned locations for superyachts during the ‘Med’ season are Palma de Mallorca in Spain and Antibes in the South of France.
As the ‘Med’ season ends, the Caribbean season begins, running typically from September/October to March/April the following year. Antigua and St. Maarten are popular destinations and many also travel to Florida on the east coast of the US. As the ‘Med’ season begins, between May to September many yachts will migrate north from the Caribbean up to locations in the northeast US such as Newport, Rhode Island.
