Suzuki DF50A EFI | 50hp | 2006

2005/6 Suzuki DF50A EFI with PTT, long shaft, remotes, cables and tacho

This engine was fitted to my boat, 16ft Predator, when it overturned, three years back. I have no idea how long it was submerged, no mechanical damage sustained, only electrical.

I have painstakingly cleaned it up and refurbished a lot of the electrics and electronics to get it working. Various medical issues led to the engine lying covered up for a long time until I could get back to work on it

I have spent in the region of 1K on original parts and goodness knows how many hours on it fault finding and replacing bits

I have fitted

New starter and solenoid

New diagnostic tacho,

second hand ECU (reads 450 hrs – original was 250)

new MAP sensor

New ECU main relay

Trim switch on engine cowl (used)

Trim switch on remote – this is not the original type so is wired externally

New down solenoid for trim

The trim motor was stripped and cleaned and new brush set fitted

I have changed the engine oil and filter, gear oil and plug seals, LP fuel filter and spark plugs

I have kept a full log of all work carried out a copy available if wanted

** only one circlip fitted on trim ram – don’t have any stainless clips

** no split pin on prop – don’t have any stainless split pins (torque needed 550nm)

Engine starts first turn of the key, pumps plenty water, goes easily in and out of gear, revs up no problem and PTT works OK

The engine is sat on a substantial wooden frame and can be seen running, any inspection/test welcome
